Pay What You Can

The concept of Pay What You Can is simple: folks pay an amount that fits within their budget for a class or workshop, rather than a set price. It’s a way to make Yoga more accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. At its core, this model is about equity, economic justice, and inclusion.

Why Pay What You Can Matters

Economic Justice: Not everyone has the same financial resources and more traditional pricing models exclude people who would love to attend but simply can’t afford to pay full price. By allowing people to pay what they can, we ensure that everyone, no matter their circumstance, has an opportunity to participate. We are working to create a more just world, where financial inequality is the no longer the norm.

Equity Over Equality: Equality is about treating everyone the same, but equity is about giving everyone what they need to be successful. Pay What You Can pricing is an equity-based model because it recognizes that people have different financial realities. Someone who is financially comfortable might pay the full price, while someone else may only be able to pay a fraction of that amount - both are equally welcome. This creates a more balanced and supportive environment where access isn’t determined by wealth.

Accessibility: Making yoga accessible means removing barriers that prevent people from participating, and financial cost is one of the biggest barriers. The Pay What You Can model allows more people, especially those from underserved or marginalized communities, to access the mental, physical, and emotional benefits of Yoga.

A Community-Based Approach

Pay What You Can also builds a stronger sense of community. It’s not just about individual transactions; it’s about creating a culture of care, trust, and mutual respect. Those who can afford to pay more often do so, knowing that it helps support others who can’t. In this way, the community supports itself, creating a space where everyone has the chance to thrive. Another way to phrase this? We take care of us.

This model reflects our studio’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. When we prioritize accessibility, we create a more just and compassionate world - one where everyone can participate, regardless of their financial situation. When we make room for different financial realities, we strengthen the bonds of our community and ensure that Yoga remains a practice for all.
