Affirming Care Practices

Tru’s Affirming Care Practices are designed to create intentional, supportive spaces where individuals from diverse and often marginalized communities can come together and practice yoga in an environment that truly sees them. These classes honor unique experiences, while fostering connection, inclusion, and empowerment. By centering these communities, we aim to cultivate healing spaces rooted in equity, respect, and collective care.

Yogis in Recovery

Yogis in Recovery pairs a 45 minute open discussion meeting with 45 minutes of yoga on the mat. As a practice of moving meditation, yoga helps to address the dis-ease of addiction that affects the mind, body and spirit. Yogis in Recovery reminds us that when we move a muscle, we change a thought.

All A’s are welcome, including those recovering from substance and process addictions, or simply curious about recovery. Members of all recovery programs are welcome. The only requirement is the ability to breathe.

This class is pay-what-you-can, and embraces the recovery tradition of "we need you more than your money."

"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom." - Viktor Frankl

Yoga for Queer, Trans & Allies

This class invites you into an uplifting and affirming space where you are encouraged to show up as your true self, surrounded by a welcoming community that embraces the beauty of diversity. Many queer and trans folks spend so much time feeling unseen or misunderstood, and having a dedicated space to practice can be a vital antidote to those feelings. In this space, we celebrate the richness of LGBTQIA+ identities, fostering a sense of belonging, self-love, and collective empowerment.

At Tru, we are committed to creating an environment that actively supports and uplifts marginalized voices and bodies. This class offers a place where you can feel free to explore, express, and move in ways that honor your body and identity.

Our LGBTQIA+ instructors lead a mindful practice focused on inclusivity, ensuring that each individual feels valued and respected. In doing so, we are working toward greater equity and representation within the yoga community, while also deepening our commitment to allyship and social justice.

Designed to be a nurturing space where everyone can thrive, this class operates on a pay-what-you-can basis, reflecting our belief in accessibility, both physical and financial.

Yoga for BIPOC & Allies

This class is dedicated to creating a safer space specifically for BIPOC and their allies to gather, connect, and experience the healing power of yoga. In a world where western yoga spaces are often predominantly white, it can be inherently difficult for people of color to feel fully seen and supported. The pressures of navigating these environments can lead to feelings of isolation, disconnection, and exhaustion, making it all the more essential to carve out spaces where BIPOC individuals can reclaim their peace and power.

At Tru, we recognize that fostering community is more than just offering a class - it’s about creating a space where BIPOC folks are centered, their experiences validated, and their identities honored. By intentionally cultivating this environment, we are not only making room for those who have historically been excluded or marginalized in yoga spaces but also building meaningful allyship among our broader community. This practice is a step towards breaking down barriers and promoting healing, equity, and collective strength.

Led by Tru’s BIPOC instructors, this class offers a mindful flow designed to nurture both body and spirit. Whether you're looking to unwind, restore balance, or simply be in community, this is a space where you can feel heard, valued, and truly at ease.

This class operates on a pay-what-you-can basis, furthering our commitment to social justice, accessibility, and equity within the yoga community.
